Moved to Honolulu June 1, 2019 from California. Should I also have a Tax Return to do for Hawaii?

I continued to work freelance for California clients and live in Hawaii. Started a part time job in August 2019. Have a W2 from this Honolulu business. Was that filed under my California state return?

Since you moved from California to Hawaii during 2019, you would file a part-year resident return for each state.

Each part-year return will tax the income that you earned from all sources while you were a resident of that state as well as income from sources of that state regardless of whether you were a resident at the time the money was earned.

For your Hawaii W-2 income, it would be included only on the Hawaii return since you were a resident of Hawaii when it was earned and it was from Hawaii sources.

How do we file?

Like two 1040, one for CA, one for HI?

Also, we had rental income from HI all year: it also must be 'split' between state forms?
