moved from CA to UT

for 2021, I lived in CA for 7 1/2 months, then moved to UT for the remainder of the year, where I still reside now.  Using TT Deluxe, do I need to complete the state returns in a specific sequence?  For my situation, is CA my non-resident state and UT a part-year resident?  I already did CA state first, but the results don't seem right.  Should I delete the CA return and start with UT?

additional info... just noticed TT has my CA state return as "Resident", and UT as "Nonresident".  Is this wrong?

You will want to file a PART YEAR return for California and Utah.  On a Part-Year return, you report he income you earned for the time you were a resident during the year.  If you indicate Part Year resident for each state, you will be able to allocate the income so none should be double reported (unless you had income in California after you moved to Utah ex: rental income or you still worked in California after you moved to Utah).
