Live in one state but drivers license is with another state.

I currently reside in the state of Indiana and have been living there for the last few years but my Illinois state drivers license where I was living has not expired yet, so I’m using that license until it expires. I guess my question is do I file or can I file as a state resident with Indiana because that’s where I live all year round but my drivers license says Illinois. I really need help with this because I’m getting a headache from trying to do my sons taxes. Thank you so much for any help and regards to this.
