Live in MD, but worked in MD and WY (Separate Employees)

I physically lived and worked in Maryland Jan - Aug 2023.  In Aug, I left my job to work for a different employer at Yellowstone National Park (in Wyoming) for 6 weeks...physically working and living in temporary housing in WY.  After the Yellowstone job, I came back home to MD.

I called and emailed the Maryland Comptroller Office and they said that I do not have to pay state taxes for the work performed in WY...verified by both people.

Currently the TurboTax return for MD is including that income earned in WY...as MD income (pulled from the federal tax return).  How do I remove the WY income from my MD taxes?  (WY does not have an income tax).

Thanks in advance.

Figured it out.  For others who are in the same boat:

  • State Taxes tab
  • General Info, click "Edit" button
  • In the Residency Status section, click on "Change Residency" button
  • Click on "Part-year resident (Form 502)" radio button
  • Enter the dates of residency and the other state you lived/worked in
  • In the Income section, you'll enter the portion of income you made in the non-resident state

Thanks all.

You will need to tell the program that you also lived in WY.

You'll need to file a part-year Maryland state return and allocate only your Maryland income to that return.

Understood.  But how?  I've been looking for 30 minutes and can't figure it out.

In the section Did You Make Money In Any Other States?, I select the answer Yes I made money in states other than Maryland.

However Wyoming is not in the state list pulldown since Wyoming does not collect any state taxes.

Also if needed, I am using TurboTax Deluxe, Desktop for Mac.
