ITIN Applied for | What to fill in online form on INDIANA integer only field

I have applied for ITIN for my spouse. I am filling online extension form with IN using the INTIME system. The online form is asking for spouse ITIN and doesn't let me leave it empty or write a text like applied in it. What should I do there? Can I fill [removed]? It is not allowing me to write [removed] as well.

Please feel free to ask clarifications.

Thanks,

Did you file the Federal return?  If you did, you can file the Indiana return as well.  You do not need to file an extension to wait for the ITIN to be approved.  You can instead file for Indiana (mail it in), and on page 1 of the return there is a box you can check that says "ITIN Applied for (Spouse)".

Thanks for the response, @DanielV01 .

I have applied for the ITIN with the federal return. I still don't have an ITIN for my spouse. I am filling for an extension because of some issues with my W2.

My question is if I want to apply for an extension online is it okay to fill [removed] in the spouse ITIN field? Or are there some other workarounds?

Thanks

Unless you are making a payment to Indiana along with your extension, there is usually no need to file the extension.  You won't be able to e-file it regardless because your wife does not yet have an ITIN.  (A "dummy" ITIN will not work for e-filing).  To file an Indiana extension with no TIN (you would write "Applied For ITIN"  instead), you would need to mail in the extension to them.  And usually it is not necessary unless you are making a payment.
