Is it necessary to apportion income earned out of state?

I live in NC but my desk and employer are in MA. I travel there approximately 20% of the year. If I apportion my income, however, then suddenly I am getting a largish refund from MA and paying through the roof in NC. Can I simply choose "100% Massachusetts income", or choose not to apportion wages?

Secondly, if I sell employee stocks acquired through my company, are they considered "non-massachusetts" property sales?

Thanks!
