Is health insurance coverage mandatory in the state of Washington?

I'm moving to the state of Washington from California. There'll be gap of health insurance coverage (more than one month) from my current employer to the future employer. Do you know if not having health insurance at all times in Washington state would result in tax penalty next year?  In California, health insurance is mandatory to avoid tax penalty. Thank you for your help.

Most states allow a short gap in health coverage, especially when moving.

This won't affect your Federal tax return, as there is no longer a penalty for no Health Coverage.

You don't report your health insurance info on your return, unless you have a Marketplace plan and receive Form 1095-A.

Since Washington has no Income Tax, it won't affect your tax there, either.

You can contact the Washington State Insurance Commission for more info.
