Inheritance Tax

My parents home was transferred to my brother who was disabled so the state couldn't come and take it because she was in a nursing home.  The agreement was he was to transfer to me once our Mom passed away.  After she passed away he didn't transfer to me until he took some property.  Once we finally transferred the property to with the understanding that I would get a mortgage to pay our siblings for me purchasing her home.  My brother passed away a before I was able to get a mortgage on the home.  So I had to pay a large amount of money in Inheritance taxes in order to get the mortgage,  Am I able to claim the Inheritance taxes I had to pay for the home?

Not deductible on your federal income tax return, unfortunately.

Inheritance tax or estate tax? Which one?

Inheritance tax, which only a handful of states levy, would not be deductible on your individual federal income tax return (1040).
