If the Ohio return doesn't accept my school district number, what do I do?

School District Number 4205 is rejected, why?

The reason this error might appear is either because School District 4205 is not a taxable district or the number is incorrect.

I could not locate School District Number 4205 on the Summary of School District Income Tax Election Results. Districts that are taxed at a 0% rate are not listed.

Please use the The Ohio School District Tax Finder and enter your home address. If it is listed at a 0% tax rate, you should not file a School District tax return. I have attached a picture below of the Kent District. If you notice, it shows up with an income tax rate of 0%. If you see this for your district, please delete your school district tax return.

To remove the school district tax return, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your tax return.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down to your state forms and look for the school district form you need to remove and click Delete

If my school district is a 0%, what are we to enter in the box?

@NurseJulz  In the OH, are you in the school district tax form? If so, you don't need it since not a school district tax.  The city tax and school district tax buttons are near each other in A few things before we wrap up your state taxes.

The main OH form does ask for your school district and it goes along with where you live. What school district did you live in during 2020? should have an answer. Is this where your problem lies?

To remove a school district tax return, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your tax return.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down to your state forms and look for the SD-100 and click Delete
