If my adjusted state tax (W2 income was doubled) can't be e-filed, why do I pay for Deluxe version for this state? I live in MA and work in RI.

I took Deluxe just to report $600 from eBay for selling my personal items, not a business at all.  It looks like it's only one way to include 1099-k in TT.
So my total loss using Delux gonna  be more than $150 for nothing

To clarify,

Are you asking about your W-2 or 1099-K?

Thank you, @KrisD15 , for your reply.

1) Due to receiving a 1099-K from eBay for selling my personal items (not for a business, no profit, total $620), I haven't found a way to include it in TT, but buying Deluxe. I wasn't planning to use the upgraded version, but OK, I agreed.

2) I live in MA and work in RI. My income W2 was reported to both, so it was doubled and I chose the option to report just real income for MA. After my states were done, I was informed that MA doesn't accept that type of e-files and I would have to report it by mail directly. But at the end of the process, my payment for Delux is still $54(federal)+49(RI)+49(MA) = $152. It's unfair. I'm being forced to pay for nothing.

Any suggestions?

If you are not required to file the RI return you need to delete the state return to avoid paying for a blank form.  To do this in TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:

  1. Within your tax return click State in the black menu bar on the left of the screen
  2. Click Continue to the screen that lists both state returns
  3. Use the trash can icon to delete the state you are not filing
  4. Click Done with States and continue through to your filing

@AliciaP1 Thank you for your response.   I have a problem with MA and MA does require filing a return, but according to TT, I have to send it by mail.   I've never done it before. Can I do the state return separately in a free version, print it from TT, and mail it?
