I received a Form 770 (Virginia Schedule K-1 Equivalent) for an inheritance. Does this mean I need to file VA taxes? I am a NC resident.

Virginia requires that nonresidents file a tax return if you have Virginia adjusted gross income equal to or greater than the amounts below:

  • Single or married filing separately         $11,950
  • Married filing jointly          $23,900

Your share of the estate's adjusted gross income would have to equal or exceed that amount before you need to file a return with the state.
