I need to fix an issue with my federal return in order to complete filing electronically. It is asking my for a number in box 17 of my 1099 misc. State/Payer's state no.?

Box 17 is the "state income", i.e., the amount of income reported to the state. It should be used in conjunction with boxes 15 and 16.

 

What is in boxes 15 and 16?
