I moved from VA to NV. TT is requiring I fill the 760py for part year resident. Form asking for TP State Refund. Where would I find that info? Do I calculate? If so,how?

I lived in Va from Jan-May and came to NV. Turbo tax will not let me file my state tax until I have entered the correct TP state refund in the Schedule of Income section. Where would I find that information? Do I have to calculate anything?

....that needs to come from the amount of your 2017 state tax refund that was included in Federal income for the current 2018 Federal tax return.

1) If you did not receive a state refund from VA for 2017 taxes...you enter a zero.

IF you did receive a VA state refund for 2017 state taxes last year, then.

2)  IF you used the Standard Deduction on your 2017 Federal tax return last year, use a zero.

3)  IF you Itemized Deductions on your 2017 Federal tax return last year, Enter the amount of your 2017 VA state refund.

.............(In some unusual situations, where #3 applies, it may not work right away......then you have to use the $$ amount on: line 10, of the Schedule 1 on this year's Federal tax return.)

4) if you still can't get it right..then a zero will get it to go thru, but VA will end up charging you a bit more in VA taxes...

The state of Virginia has announced the following that may impact customers filing in Virginia:

"Virginia's tax season officially starts on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.

However, there is one big difference this year that could affect your state return. The Virginia General Assembly is determining the Commonwealth’s response to the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Because of this, Virginia Tax will not be able to start processing returns immediately."
