I make sales calls throughout the eastern US. I moved from N Carolina to NY in Sept of 2024. My company is still withholding taxes for NC in 2025. What should I do?

My company is suggesting I fill out a new W4 so my withholdings start going to NY. Should I do this? What happens to the withholdings already scheduled for NC?

Yes you should prepare a W-4.

You can take a credit on the NY tax return for taxes paid in NC, but the NY tax will be higher.

Here is a Form W-4

The address block will identify you as a NY resident.
