I'm AD (USN), lived in SC last year till PCS in Jul'22 to CA but my HOR is WA. How do I enter "date I became a resident of WA" if before 2022 isn't an option?

Since your home of record is WA, your resident state all of 2022 was WA.  There would not be a need to enter any dates.

  1. In the "My Info" section, indicate you are "Military" and "All of 2022."
  2. Select WA as your resident state on 31 Dec 2022.
  3. Answer "No" to "Did you live in any other states in 2022."

As part of the "Miltary" follow on interview, you may be asked which other states you may have PCS'd to/from.  You can put SC and CA there but those are not resident states.

However, if you had income other than military pay you would need to scroll down to "Other State Income" and answer "Yes" and select the "State" you earned that other income in.  This will generate nonresident return(s) for those states.

@mcperez57

Can't know exactly what you've done

BUT

Sounds like you made a mistake on the My Info page.

Go back to the My Info page and edit  the information about yourself.

You DO NOT indicate that you moved on that page.  (Spouse neither if married)

You just indicate that you were a WA resident all year...no "Moves" from another state.

Then, you would only indicate SC or CA  as another state that you had income from? (bottom of the My Info page)....you would only indicate CA or SC if you worked an off-duty job (W-2 or self-employed) in CA or SC....or own a rental property in either state that you get income from.   If you had that kind of extra income...then you would file one of those states as a "Non-resident"  not as a part-year resident.

ANNNND...once you fix that, if there is an unneeded SC or CA tax return remaining in the state section...you can delete it/them before you get around to filing the Fedral forms.
