I lived and worked most of the year in a different state. In Nov, I moved to Alabama and started receiving disability. Do I need to submit both Form 40 and 40NR?

I have not worked since moving to Alabama.

No, you would just submit the Form 40 since you had no income from Alabama while you were a non-resident of the state.

Thank you for the response.  So receiving disability doesn't count the same as income from a job?

No disability income doesn't count the same as income from a job. Depending on what type of disability income you receive, how it is taxed. See the following TurboTax help article for more information:

Is disability income taxable?
