I live in Indiana. I was deployed very briefly in NC. I never set up any residence as we can be deployed for anywhere from 3 days to a month. Do I have to file in NC?

I am a post disaster inspector that works for a FEMA contractor. I am not military.

No, if during that time you were active duty military, then you only file state taxes for your HOR state for any active duty military earnings.
