I got a Tax Information and Document Request from California Franchise Board. They are asking for few documents to be sent in 30 days. Is this legit and normal?

Yes it is and you must comply for the return to be processed.

Thanks for your reply. Is this something to be worried about? Is it part of the audit?

If you filed a true and accurate return then you have nothing to worry about ... the state is like the teacher grading your paper in school and asking to see your "work" in completing the math problem. This is a kind of "spot" audit which is normal so comply with the request.

Thanks. Yes, I am going to send the required docs. I used TurboTax and entered all the details as it is from my W2s. Should I send in overnight shipping? They asked to send all docs in 30 days.

Do send it receipt required but don't spend extra to overnight it since it will not make them process it any faster.

Send COPIES only of all the info they are requesting that  you can amass.
