I filed my 2024 fed and Oregon state taxes. TT did a review of the Oregon state tax and said there were no errors. I just got a tax refund check from Oregon.

I filed my 2024 fed and Oregon state taxes. TT did a review of the Oregon state tax and said there were no errors. TT calculated that I needed to pay Oregon $489.00. I sent off the check and tax return. I just got a tax refund check from Oregon for $148. Now I am worried about using TT for 2025 for Oregon. Also wondering if TT review missed something in my Fed tax return. The letter that come from Oregon give no indication of what the amount was overpaid or miscalculated, it just said "This is your Oregon personal income tax refund for the filing period ending Dec 31, 2024. Thank you for paying your Oregon state income taxes."

What should I do to figure out where the overpayment came from and prevent the same thing next year?

update: After calling Oregon Dept of Revenue it turns out that I may have attached an older version of my Fed return with the Oregon state return. The older version had a lower AGI which resulted in overpayment of tax owed to Oregon. Mystery solved 🙂
