I am using Turbo tax premier - I'm helping my nephew file and he owes zero tax to the state of Michigan - Turbo tax will not generate a MI return - why?

That seems to be true.

 

If the program doe not let you e-file, please print and mail the Michigan Return:

Did all of his Federal information transfer into the Michigan return?  And did you complete the MI state interview?  Have you gone through the Review tab?

 

Does he have any Michigan source income?   I've had to file a Michigan return before due to some Michigan source income, even though after state additions/subtractions, and exemptions,  the bottom line was no Michigan tax owed, and I was able to efile it with TurboTax.   I had to mail the city return, however.  Some cities don't allow efiling of the city return.
