Arizona Form 309 is for Part-Year or Non-resident Arizona taxpayers.  Its purpose is to calculate the income subject to tax by both Arizona and another state to avoid dual taxation.

The line you are referencing wants to know "Income subject to tax by other state" and the blank should have the state abbreviation for the other state.

What State goes into first line as you start the form... "copy name or number"?  How do I get a copy of instructions for Form 309?

I believe the answer to what you’re asking is, in Part I, Box A of Form 309, you’re asked to provide the two-letter abbreviation for the state that you’re claiming a credit for having paid taxes to.

The abbreviations are found on the last page of the instructions.

You can find Form 309 and its instructions at Credit for Taxes Paid to Another State or Country.
