I am an MT resident but worked as a server in FL (I go to college here) the computer wants me to pay MT state tax on the tips I earned in FL. This doesn't seem right
I don't think I should pay MT tax on FL tip wages. That just doesn't seem right but the computer wont let me file them in FL state tax as FL doesn't have a state tax. So I don't know what to do as these tips were already taxed in Fl and now I'm being asked to pay the state of MT money for them. Please help

Like other states, MT taxes its residents on all their income, regardless of its source. So yes, your FL income is taxable by your home state of MT.
It has not been taxed in FL, because FL does not have a state income tax.
