I am a resident of Maryland and it is saying that i am a nonresident....what did I do wrong? I am married but want to file myself because we are separated? ???

Go back over your Personal Info in the Federal Taxes section of TurboTax. You do this by selecting Edit beside your Personal Info.  In Item #2, make sure that you selected Maryland, and said that you did not live in any other state. 

Next, go to State Taxes. Check to see that your status is listed as Resident. If not, select Change Residency. See the screenshot below.

Be aware that you can file separately if you wish, but you don’t have to. You are able to file a joint return with your spouse if you both agree as long as you were still legally married at the end of 2016.
