I am a residence of wv but work in VA and it is messing up

It depends.  Since you live in WV, you will file a WV resident return.  All of your income is taxable there.  But since WV and VA are reciprocal states, you are not taxed in VA.  If your job took out VA tax, then you will file a Virginia nonresident reciprocal return so you get back all of the state tax.  Also, please see this FAQ so you can fill out the correct form and they stop doing this:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4776822

If you only had WV tax taken out, you only need to file a WV return.  You will delete the VA return by answering no to the question if you worked in any other state besides WV.  You are not considered to work in VA because of the reciprocal agreement.
