The deductible part of your self-employment tax is listed on schedule 1, part II on line 15. It represents half the self-employment tax that you pay on net self-employment income. It is calculated automatically based on your self-employment tax that is listed on line 4 of schedule 2.

Okay. It is not showing as half as it is showing as the full amount in my taxes owed. I calculated the 15.3% and it is showing that as being the full amount owed without any credits or deductions for it. I am trying to figure out how to see the spreadsheet to input it myself or at least make sure it is showing but I cannot figure out how to see the breakdown. How do I view the form 1040 on here?

Here is how to view your 1040 in in TurboTax online:

  1. On the left side menu, select  Tax Tools near the bottom.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Select View Tax Summary from the list at the bottom of this box.
  4. Select Preview my 1040 from the center of the left side menu.
  5. You will be able to see Form 1040 and Schedules 1, 2 and 3.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop (download or disc):

  1. Click Forms toward the upper right corner.
  2. Find Form 1040 on the list on the left.
  3. Highlight it, and it will show in the reading pane.
  4. Click on Step by Step in the upper right corner to return to the interview.
