To change the date you moved out of California, please follow these steps in TurboTax online:

  • Log into your Turbo Tax Online account.
  • Select "Take me to my return"
  • Click "My Info" located on the left side of your screen
  • Click "Edit" next to your name
  • From here you can change the date you moved out of California in Question #2

This does not seem to update the value in the CA State residency form. It is "stuck" at the previous value.

I had to completely delete and re-create the CA taxes for the change in "My Info" to take effect.

This is very terrible in my opinion.

This issue seems to still exist. Can it be fixed please, this is very annoying.

Did you ever figure this out? Now I’m having this issue and have talked to so many people and no one has been able to figure it out.

In TurboTax Online, you report that you lived in one or more states under My Info down the left side of the screen.  Then click Edit to the right of your name.

Review the entries there to make sure that they are entered correctly.

The entries in My Info and the state entries included on W-2's and other documents tell the software what state tax returns you may need to complete.

Click State Taxes and Your State Returns down the left side of the screen to see what state tax returns you have started.

Part-year state tax returns may also ask you to enter the dates that you were resident in the state.  Review these tax returns or delete the tax returns and start over to correctly enter the residency information.  Review all of the state tax returns to make sure that the residency is correctly reported in each state tax return.

To delete a state tax return or to delete and start over, click the trashcan to the right of the state on the page Status of you state returns.
