GA/SC state income tax

I live in GA and support a territory that is 100% in SC. I work from home, and travel to meet with clients in SC approximately 50% of the time. My company requires that I withhold for SC.  I was told that since my territory is in SC I need to pay SC income tax. Not sure how the state income tax will work out. Should I withhold for GA as well?

First, you will fill out the SC return as a non-resident. It will calculate your tax liability and refund or balance due.

Second, you do your resident return. GA will then tax your income and give you a credit for your SC income already being taxed.

Since states have different tax rates, they will give the lower of SC or GA tax as a credit against the tax liability in GA. You may owe GA a little, or nothing at all.
