Filing an Oregon Return with no Oregon Income/Non-resident

Hello, this is a somewhat complicated tax question, I think. In 2018, I was relocated from Oregon to Indiana as part of my job. During the move, I was paid $22,500 for relocation expenses (plus grossed-up taxes of around $11k). This total ($33,500) was reported on my W2 as Oregon income.

Fast-forward to now. I've since switched Companies, and my previous Company had me pay back my relocation expenses. I know how to claim that on the Federal return. My question, is if there is a way to claim this relocation payback on an Oregon return when I file in 2020. Keep in mind I no longer live there so it would be a non-resident return. It looks like Oregon does have a section on their State return for "Claim of Right Credit"

I just want to make sure that I am claiming the correct credit, or if I am even allowed to claim anything at all in Oregon.

Thanks

You are claiming the correct credit.  If you had to repay an amount that you included in your
Oregon income in an earlier year, you may be able to claim a credit for the Oregon tax you paid on that income when you file your return for the repayment year. This web reference fully explains the qualifications for claiming the credit and the procedure for doing so: https://www.oregon.gov/DOR/forms/FormsPubs/worksheet-or-crc_101-168.pdf

As you'll see, you can file for the credit on a non-resident as well as a resident OR tax return.
