Error: it-112-r (NJ): Tax Amount - TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by the other state. Tax Amount - TP: [cell to input new dollar amount]

Hi tax experts,

I'm having the same issue again this year, I receive this error message right before filing, income in NJ & lived in NY:

it-112-r (NJ): Tax Amount - TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by the other state.

Tax Amount - TP: [cell to input new lower dollar amount]

My token is: 1134856

Last year the amount on this and the following page needed to be changed, thank you so much I appreciate it!

you can take non-resident tax off only up to the amount of your resident state tax, not more.

Yeah I know but there seems to be a bug that doesn't compute the amount correctly in Turbotax, it seems like you have to go to your form IT-112-R (should be displayed below in that error page), and enter the amounts from either 24a or 24, I'm not sure, so that the system doesn't give you an error on the New York State return section. I would ask an expert in the community or call them to confirm the new amount you should input.
