Do I need to file an Idaho state return if I live and work from my home in Utah, but my employer is in Idaho?

It doesn’t sound like it, since you didn’t actually work in Idaho.

Just because you were paid by a company in another state doesn’t mean you’ll owe tax to that state.  It’s all about where you worked when you earned your pay.

Please see the TurboTax Help article Why would I have to file a nonresident state return? for a little more detailed information.

Thanks for your response. I guess my next question is, my W-2 has an Idaho Payer ID in box 15. Does my company need to give me a new W-2 with a Utah payer ID?

Thanks again.

If your employer withheld Idaho state taxes, they would be included on Line 15.  If they did not include Utah, you definitely want to contact them to get the correct information.
