DE State Tax Return Filing (Required MD Return Attachment)

Am filing state tax returns for both MD and DE (where we currently reside).  I noticed that a copy of the MD return is required to be attached to the DE return when submitting same. Does Turbo tax automatically attach the MD return to the DE return when submitting on line? Thanks

Yes.  TurboTax automatically submits all required forms when e-filing.  Any form that is required for each state is transported along with the state return when e-filing.  However, sometimes the state taxing agency may request additional information from you the taxpayer.

This answer is not correct.  I have filed a Delaware Resident tax return with and a Maryland Non-Resident tax return each of the last 3 years (filed 2023, 2022, and 2021 taxes) and the 2021 needed me to manually email it to Delaware after months of trying to figure out why i wasn't getting my refund, 2022 went through no issue, and 2023 taxes repeated the issue for 2021.  I am filing my 2024 taxes now and who knows when i will get my return and how long i have to struggle with Delaware's tax office till they tell me to send in my Maryland one too.  Once they get that one, its a matter of a few days till i get my refund.

You can go ahead and mail the required paperwork or wait for them to ask -if they do. Include a cover letter with a short statement explaining these are the supporting documents for the nonresident return. If you decide to mail, be sure to track the arrival for the safety of your information.

The program is sending the information but how it is received and treated is another long set of steps by your state.

I am dealing with the same thing.  I filed Delaware non resident and Maryland.  After 3 weeks of checking on Maryland return and it saying received and processing, I called MD comptroller and they said they need me to email copy of Delaware return pdf. I don't know how long until they will review now and release the refund.  How long did it take after you sent a copy of the other state return did you actually get your refund? This is unfair that I have to go through any of this really and it is a problem that turbo tax should fix!
