credit in new state for tax in old state before moving

I lived in CT for half the year and IN for half the year. I am filing state returns to both states. For my IN return, TurboTax is asking about tax paid to CT and offering me a credit. But that tax was on income I made from CT while still living in CT, not yet living in IN. Is that right? Or should I only get a credit for tax paid to another state from the months when I lived in IN?

generally, if you are a part-year resident in two states you are only taxed on the income earned there. there is no credit on the other state for taxes paid to the first state.  only income that is taxed by both states is eligible for a credit.
