Confused about out of state taxes.

I live in Illinois now, and rented out my house in KY. I made less than $10k in 2020 on it. According to the KY DOR website, if you make below $12,760 (single) then you don't have to file. The wording is confusing though, and I don't want to mess up my taxes.

I know I have to file the extra income on my federal taxes, but am I required to file anything in KY?

Yes, unfortunately, you will have to file the Kentucky nonresident return.  For Kentucky, individuals must file if they receive any gross income from Kentucky sources (this is the rental income) and gross income from all sources in excess of modified gross income ($12,760).
