Hi,
I'm trying to file my taxes today and upon reviewing my state taxes (Hawaii/Form N11) I'm receiving the following message:
"Form N11: Interest Expense calculation updates have not been completed. Check back after January 19, 2022."
Today is the 28th, but there don't appear to be any updates available. I tried to update the field manually (it originally showed last year's number) but I'm still getting a message to check the entry.
Is an update still coming even though we're way past the 19th?
I'm a bit confused as to why it would matter as the entry relates to itemized deductions while I'm taking the standard deduction for my state. The wording of line 21 (where this "check entry" falls under) is: "If you do not itemize your deductions, go to line 23. Otherwise, enter your itemized deductions here." Based on this, can I ignore the check entry message since I'm not actually itemizing my deductions?
Thanks so much!
Yes, given that you are taking the standard deduction, ignoring the message requesting that you check an entry ostensibly relating to itemized deductions appears appropriate. However, the message may interfere with your ability to e-file. If it does, see if you can delete the form which contains your HI itemized deductions given that it does not appear that you need such form.
Assuming you are using TurboTax Online, to view your forms, and delete certain forms, follow these steps.

If you are itemizing, you will have to wait until the form is available for e-file. You will have to check back every few days to determine if you can now e-file.
TurboTax does not create forms for IRS or states. TurboTax has to wait for final versions of forms to update the system to be able to properly e-file returns. Once TurboTax has received the information and updated programs, you will be able to file your return.
