Cannot efile AZ state return because I sent estimated payments to Arizona Dept of Revenue

Hi Folks,

Per TurboTax suggestion last year, I made 4 estimated payments to AZ Dept of Revenue via their website in 2022.

When preparing the return, TurboTax help told me that these payments needed to be entered via Estimates and Other Taxes Paid/Estimated Tax Payments/State estimated taxes for 2022. I did that.

Now TurboTax says the return is ineligible for efile (see below).

Is there any way to fix this? Can these payments be entered in a way that would allow efiling?

This is super frustrating...seems TurboTax instructions are bad advice.

Are you sure you have the estimated payments reported in the correct spot?   They would not be considered withholding, so the message you are getting makes me think they are entered as withholding and not estimated payments.   Go back to the federal return and Review the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section.    It is in the Deductions and Credits section.   Make sure they are reported in the Estimates section, not Other Tax Paid.

  1. Deductions and Credits
  2. Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  3. Estimates (first category)
  4. State Estimated Taxes for 2022
  5. Answer YES
  6. 2022 State Estimated Payments - enter the dates and amounts of your payments.   These payments are not considered withholding.
