Can Turbo Tax handle part-year state taxes (CA) if the other 6 months was foreign? Expat in Aus for 16 years, moved to CA July 24, no earned income in CA (Student).

Earned income in Australia Jan-June '24; bonafide resident of Australia (no US residence, lived in Aus since '08). Moved to CA for school July '24, earned $180.50 from the school, but Turbo seems to want to include all my foreign income in my state taxes. Cannot figure out how to make myself a part-year resident, to cover taxes on the $180.50 (it only seems to allow part-year if you select another US state as the other residence). US and AU citizen, full time student from July '24; filed fed every year from abroad ('08 to '23), foreign earned income exclusion + last year took foreign tax credits for the first time. I know CA doesn't use FEI exclusions or FTCs, but none of this income was earned while I was a resident of CA.

Since all you earned in California is $180.50, you are not required to file a California return this year.  The simplest solution is likely to not file a California return for 2024.
