Hi everyone!
I'm not exactly sure if this is the correct way to calculate the "Non-Massachusetts Portion of Deductions paid during 2020 to Social Security (FICA), Railroad, Medicare, U.S. or Massachusetts Retirement"
So I lived in MA from 01/01/2020 - 02/29/2020 and moved to VA. At first, I didn't understand how TurboTax generated $3,136 but realized they added the SS withheld ($2334) and Medicare ($801).
So should I just divide $3,136 by 12 and then times that amount by the months I was already living in VA to come up with the correct figure? In this case, the Non-MA portion of deduction I should put is $2,613?
Any thoughts would be highly appreciated!
It sounds like you are on the right track for Allocating your Income for a Part-Year Resident return.
It can be challenging to allocate unearned income, this info on How to Allocate Income for a Part Year Resident may help you.

@Xenoraph I have a similar question so I was thinking if you just add boxes 4 and 6 from w2 in your case the w2 from VA, will you have the same number that you will put for non-MA portion of deductions? Instead doing this divide by 12 and the rest that you did explain.
If this W-2 you’re referring to only had income earned in Virginia, as opposed to Virginia and Massachusetts, this would be fine.
If the W-2 combines income earned while in both states, you’ll need to do some partitioning. Please see the TurboTax Help article How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return? mentioned above for guidance.
