Box 15, I have two different states. do I need to file for both states if I didn't live in one of them?

If you had taxes withheld for the state where you were not a resident, you will want to file for that state as well.

You could get a credit from your state of residence for the taxes you paid to another state.

Also, since you had taxes withheld in that state, you should be getting a refund.

If you are filing a Non-resident tax return, the taxes paid to that state should post to your Resident tax return of the state of which you are a resident.

In order to get that to flow correctly you need to do your Non-resident return first.

If you've already started the process, delete all your state returns and start again with the Non-resident return first.
