I have read through some of the postings related to amended returns. I submitted an amended return - paid $40 - on 15 August 2023. Each time I would check the amended return online it says 'amendment in progress' with the amended amount showing (Federal return only). I've checked on the IRS site for amended return - nothing shows it has been submitted. I have also discovered that no file exists showing the amended return that I completed - all docs in my account only show for the original filing - it's as if it was never filed. I've tried to contact the customer service number but apparently they are closed for the holidays. Having read a couple of the posts about amended returns not being accepted or processed by TT, if that is truly the case then I would gather my issue is to re-file a paper amended return and get the $40 credited for this year's filing.
Does anyone still have a 'amendment in progress' still pending?
within a few days to a week after e-File of 1040-X it will show on IRS website.
Also, TurboTax does not charge you to e-File an amendment.
Not sure what you would pay $40 for.
