2023 Georgia Schedule 3 Line 8A is red

Help! The red field is preventing e-filing of the Georgia state return. A few individuals at TurboTax advised overriding the calculated field with the total from line 8B + line 8C, which removes the red flag but number remains red. An attempt to e-file was prevented due to having an overridden field.

Does anyone know the data source for "Federal Income after Georgia Adjustment" line 4?

I was able to replicate the same problem with a newly created Georgia state return.

I have completed Schedule 3 for the past two years and never had to deal with this issue before.

I had the same issue on my 2023 return. Now I got again in 2024 return.

This year, I figure out the difference is my ROTH IRA distribution.  Perhaps this is the issue?

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to  help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account,

- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

- click okay and you'll get another message with a token

If you're using TurboTax Desktop:

  • Click on Online in the top menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
  • Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
  • Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
  • We can then review your exact scenario for a solution

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all the states, if any, that are included on the return.

Thank you for providing your token.

Since you don't have any Georgia adjustments, the amount on the Federal Income after Georgia Adjustment line should match your Federal AGI.

I compared your entries on the Georgia allocation screens with your federal return. There's an amount on the other income screen (see screenshot) that's not on your federal return. You'll need to remove this amount and replace it with zero. That will clear the error and allow you to e-file.

Thank you for sending your token.

Line 8A of Schedule 3 must equal lines 8B + 8C.

Lines 8B and 8C come from the Georgia income allocation screens. You'll need to go back through these screens to verify the amounts are correct, specifically the income from rental property. When you add up the amounts you've entered in the two columns, it doesn't equal the total rental income you've reported on your federal return. You can check the Inc/Ret worksheet to review your entries and compare the totals to the federal return.

Is there any solution to this?

I'm having same issue... the  line 8A is $4 more than the total of B+C.

I've checked all entries and they are correct.

What is source of line 8A?  How can I correct it?

GA portion of Rental Income is not an issue.  the difference is ROTH IRA distribution.

I believe that in the form Inc/Ret Wks, TurboTax mistakenly added ROTH IRA distribution into non-Georgia income (GA Sch 3 - Income not taxable to Georgia - line 4 - Other Income or (loss)) which is totally exclude from Federal income amount.  Just like the user avalon42 had the same problem.
