I filled the Wisconsin tax return of 2022 with better investment which is applicable for tax exemption. However, refund of 2022 is lesser than refund of 2021, almost 50% less.
Are there any bigger amendments done as compare to year 2021 in tax exemptions which is causing less refund?
It depends. There are many reasons why your refund may be lower this year. Your refund represents the amount by which the payments you made, either through withholding, such as from wages or through estimated payments, exceeds your tax liability for the year after other credits are applied.
Double-check your entries for income, taxes paid, and deductions to confirm they are correct. Compare the individual line items with last year's return as well, if applicable.
You can use these steps to view your Federal & State tax return(s) with all its forms, worksheets, etc. This will also print your filing instructions which will tell you what documents to mail in, as well as your itemized 2-year comparison.
1. Log in to your TurboTax account, Click on "Tax Home" (left side of the screen).
2. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents, Click on "Show"
3. Click on "Add a state" (You are not really adding a state; This just allows you to open your return.)
4. Click on "Tax Tools" and then "Print Center" (left side of the screen).
5. Check boxes next to "2017 federal and state returns".
6. Click on "Print all forms and worksheets".
7. Scroll the pdf. You'll see the 5-year history first. Keep scrolling to find the 2-year comparison before the Tax Summary page
