2020 CA DE-4 form Worksheet C Item 13: how do I calculate it?

Hi,

I'm filling out the 2020 CA DE-4 form.  Item 13 of worksheet C says "Calculate the tax withheld and estimated to be withheld during 2020.".  I can look up my year-to-date withheld amount from my last paystub for the amount already withheld in 2020.  But how do I calculate the estimated amount?

Thanks.

  1. You will need to determine how may more paychecks you will receive in 2020.
  2. Then you will need to determine how much has been withheld up to this point and how many paychecks you received so far.
  3. Then you will divide the amount that has been withheld up to this point by the number of paychecks received in 2020.
  4. Then you will multiply that amount by the number of remaining checks you will receive during the year to get an estimated amount
  5. Keep in mind, this will be a rough estimate that doesn't take in account for overtime or some other factor that might change the amount.

That makes sense.  Thank you!
