Is there a state income tax amount in box 11? If box 11 is blank or zero, you don't need the state ID. Just leave boxes 10a, 10b, and 11 blank in TurboTax. If there is a state income tax amount in box 11, enter IL for the state in box 10a. The state identification number is probably the same as the federal Payer's TIN. If you want to be sure, you would have to contact the state agency that issued the 1099-G and ask them what should be in box 10b.

Use the same Federal Id No. in Box 10b and enter $0 in Box 11 to proceed with review.

for illinois if there is no withholding in the state section you can ignore the state section completely.  the 1099G federal amount is included in Federal AGI. Illinois starts out with federal AGI so the amount is already included in Illinois taxable income.

box 1 is for unemployment compensation which in 2021 is fully taxable for federal and Illinois.

As I previosly stated, there are no numbered boxes.  I recieved a letter stating it was mt 1099G with a table that just statedTax Yaer. Benefits Paid, State Tax Withhels, Feteral Tax Withheld, and IDES Federal ID.  I entered the IDES Federal ID as both the federal and state code.  My returns have been accepted (sofar) so I am hoping it is correct.

I had State Tax withheld from mine, so I definitely would want credit for what I paid.

The big issue is that IDES only provides a 1099G LETTER, not a true tax form.  (Kind of ridiculous.)  So none of the boxes are labelled. Since there are only a handful of boxes total, which one would be box "10B" or "11" ??  There are not even 6 total boxes.   I'm left guessing, and that's not fair.

Try accessing your Form 1099-G online.  Use the following link and your IDES account login information.

As info, I received the IDES 1099-G form via their website. It is labelled at the top "This is your  Form 1099G" (even though it's only a letter).  I figured out which box #s are which via using a Google IMAGES search.

My problem with TurboTax is that I fill in my info, and it keeps its status as "Needs Review". Is this a glitch??

@gcvr1  If it just says needs review but doesn't keep you from filing then go ahead and file.

For Illinois Unemployment - 36-3042127.

from a practical standpoint if there is no withholding you could enter 36-1234567. the IRS doesn't need it because it will simply match the UC you report to what it got from IDES.

Illinois would only need the EIN if there was state withholding for form IL-WIT
