Why is my 1099-misc suddenly being reported twice, once on the 1099 and once as extra income that requires a schedule?

It is not a new job. It is an incentive paid by the car make, just like all the years before. It has never required an extra schedule or made me out to be self-employed. I must be a salesman at a dealership to get this incentive.

The following questions must be answered correctly so that your incentive is not recognized as self employment.

  1. Open your TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop tax return
  2. Search (upper right) > type 1099misc > click the Jump to... link
  3. Begin your entry of the 1099-MISC.
    1. Be sure to select No this did NOT involve work and No it did not involve an intent to earn money
  4. Continue to complete this section.
