Self employed without 1099

Media creator in the USA,

Getting paid via wire from a UK company monthly. They don't send any type of tax forms and keep 15% processing.

I'd also like to deduct things like expensive haircuts since it's for the media I've created but not sure if that's allowed since I also need a haircut anyway?

More worried about not having any 1099 given.

You need to keep a copy of all payments and expenses and simply put them in Turbo Tax when completing your return. (Remember to hold on to them should the IRS need proof down the line.)

Regarding the haircut, that is tricky as you stated, but if you can prove that it is a business expense which is defined as being ordinary and necessary, then it may qualify for a deduction.

Re haircuts - IRC 262 states that you cannot take a deduction for personal expenses. A haircut is one of the classic examples of what would generally be considered a personal expense. You would certainly have a very high hurdle if you were audited to get the IRS to agree that the circumstances of these haircuts would make them a business expense.

Yes, I was trying to find the (Line) since personally I wouldn't cut my hair, but since I come out on camera, it has to look nice or decent lol. Therefore as a media creator/influencer I figured it might qualify as necessary.
