Received a 1099-NEC from winning a contest. am not an employee, not a hobby, not as part of self employment. Just won a contest.

Turbo Tax will not let just add this on my 1040 as additional income.

Form 1099-NEC stands for Non-Employee Compensation. It is for, and only for, reporting income to a self-employed contractor.

TurboTax will demand you report the income as Self-Employment.

If this was for winning a game of chance, they used the wrong form.

Ask them to reissue a correct form and report it on Form 1099-MISC.
