PMFL

My wife received a 1099 MISC  for Maternity leave with one amount and then another form for maternity leave with a lesser amount and a box check that says third party sick pay. Do I enter the second form? If so where? The form does not say 1099 Misc

What type of form is the second form, or is it just a statement?  Please clarify so we may assist you.

It appears to just be a statement. It does not reference any tax form.

If your wife's maternity leave (PMFL) was reported on Form 1099-MISC and the other statement is just an informative statement and not tax specific, you don't have to enter it.

You will enter your Form 1099-MISC as follows:

  1. Continue your return
  2. Go to "Wages & Income"
  3. Scroll down to "Other Common Income" and
  4. Click on the (down-facing caret) to the right of it
  5. Click on "Start" or "Revisit" next to Form 1099-MISC
  6. Enter the info from your Form 1099-MISC
    • Note: If you have items in boxes 4-18, check the box that says "My Form has other info in boxes 1-18"
    • Select Continue and answer the follow-up questions for your Form 1099-MISC.
    • Your next screen asks you to "Describe the reason for this 1099-MISC" you can enter "Paid maternity leave PMFL", and "Continue"
    • The next screen asks, "Do one of these uncommon situations apply?" select "None of these apply", and "Continue"
    • The next screen asks, "Did the "Paid Maternity Leave-PMFL" involve work that's like your main job?", answer "No" and "Continue"
    • Your next screen asks, "How often did you get income for Paid Maternity Leave- PMFL? Check the box "You got it in 2024", and "Continue"
    • The next screen asks, "Did the Paid Maternity Leave-PMFL involve an intent to earn money?, Select "No"
