New expat and self employed.

I hav  no idea where to begin with my taxes and am hoping someone else has walked in the same shoes and can guide me.   I’m from the US (New York).  January through March 2019 I worked online as a teacher from my parents home in NY.   That’s considered self employed.  In April my UK fiance visa was approved and I moved over to England.  I did not work remainder of the year.    I married in September.   My husband is from UK. so has no SS number, he will not be filing US taxes.   I still need to file them.   Where do I even begin to file US taxes, when I now live in UK.  But had made US income when I lived in US.   But am now married. But can’t enter a ss number for my spouse.  Will the expat version of turbo tax be able to handle all this?

Yes, TurboTax can handle filing your return and you can use the regular TurboTax version. You can start with the TurboTax Free version but you will be prompted to upgrade to the self-employed version.

You have the option to file married filing separately.  You will leave the SSN field bank. You won't be able to e-file and need to print, write "NRA" for the spouse's SSN and mail your tax return.

Or you can file married filing jointly and treat your husband as a resident for tax purposes but then his worldwide income would be taxable in the US. Please see Nonresident Alien Spouse for details. You would have to apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). You will have to print and submit the tax return with the ITIN application.
