My daughter got a 1099 NEC for some work she did for her school. Is there any way to report this without a schedule C?

When I put in the form, it makes me select a reason and the only one that makes sense is self-employed. But the questions for the schedule C are hard to answer for a child who doesn't truly run a business.

Form 1099-NEC (Non-Employee Compensation) cannot be reported any other way other than Self-Employment.

There once was a schedule C-EZ but that was eliminated in 2019.

So, you'll have to use Schedule C and enter expenses (if any). She will also pay Self-Employment tax which is the equivalent of the FICA (Social Security Tax) an employer pays.
