I went to multiple states as an independent contractor, will the income I made in those states be under my contract, or the state?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly.  If I understand you correctly, you went to several states and worked for awhile in each state.  For Federal Income Tax purposes, you would report all the income on your F1040, if that that is your business return.

As to the states, each state may be different, and whether you have to file a state income tax return for each state depends on the state, and if the state has reciprocity with your state of residence.  You may also have to watch out for some locality income taxes or earned income taxes.  Certain cities/localities have taxes on earned income.

You would have to review each state and each locality.
